BISU WE STAND TOGETHER AS ONE

Everyone was invited to take part in Bisu 39th congress on  29th December 2014 The goal was simple to give everyone an opportunity to express themselves as a mean for unity bulids in student.

ESTABLISHMENT OF BISU EDUCATIONAL FUND

1  A BISU Educational fund was establishedin the mid-80s. David Binkotin Niibi was one of the proponents of this fund.

2  Lawyer Biimi, formerly the Head of the National Commission on Civic Education, launched it in the mid-80s at Najong.

3  It had a three-member body as signatories to the account. These were Rev. Thomson Tonlaar, Mr. Paul Nimpaba Adambil Laar and Pokper Laar Dominic Suame.

3  The account was opened at the Aboabu branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank.

4  The positive expectation of parents and students was short lived, as commitment on the part of all was not demonstrated.

5  As we sit today, one cannot tell how much was deposited and what has happened to the fund.

6  There is the need to sound a word of caution as it is not a time for apportioning blame. This is because all is still not lost.

AVAILABILITY OF RESOURCES FOR BISU ACTIVITIES

1  The issue of resource mobilization has always been a challenge to BISU but was manageable until the beginning of the 21st Century.

2  Philanthropist had confidence in BISU affairs, so appeal for funds yielded significant results.

4 An attempt was made in 1979/80 to establish a BISU farm in Nakpanduri as part of sustaining resource mobilization. However, philanthropist appreciated this initiative.

6  Students were very committed in the payments of their dues to the mother union.

7  Parents were always ready to release grain to the leadership through their wards and this was easily converted into cash and used for BISU activities.

BISU IN OUR CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY

BISU was ushered into the 21st Century with a lot of challenges.

The problem of power struggle due to the growth in population of then BISU family probably is something that cannot be washed away.

The growth of political activities in the country and the area in specific also account for the lost of BISU glory.

The leadership needs to demonstrate an undisputable level of neutrality in our body politic as well as high level of financial transparency and accountability. This will help draw closer the Alumni to its Programmes.

Lost of confidence in what BISU stands for go a long way to affect the way resources are mobilized for its activities.

A MESSAGE FROM THE BISU PRESIDENT

It dawns on me a great deal of happiness to welcome all to this dream come through of at least having a working website for the Bimoba students union (BISU).  This initiative is a consolidated effort to respond to the exigency of this technological age and time where information dissemination has taken a certain nose dive from the traditional one we hither to used.

I will want to use this opportunity to thank my colleague BISU 2012/ 2015 crop of executivesfor working through the thin and thick in making this dream a success.

Successive BISU leaders over the years have done their bit to jealously protect and hold high the hard earned reputation of our beloved union as is been manifested all this while . As their privileged successor and a junior apprentice in the enterprise of BISU leadership, I humbly doll my heart out for them in love and in respect- “niipoukmannyuarib.”

Our patron the Hon. Solomon Boar and the council of elders chairman chambaYandam and others who have shown and thought us the true sense of leadership. The leadership that feels and is felt I salute them for that unwavering support.

I will not shudder to recognize the ingenuity of the people who facilitated and designed this website (PangbotT Samoaka and BawaBasubnin Casper ). Niipoukman.

I entreat all of us to make good use of this facility as we even celebrate 40 years of the union’s existence this year at DENEGU in the upper East Region of Ghana from the 28th to 30th December, 2015.

Thank you.
